Red Sox stars Alex Verdugo, Xander Bogaerts receive AL MVP votes

Two Red Sox players -- outfielder Alex Verdugo and shortstop Xander Bogaerts -- received votes for the American League award, according to the tally released by the Baseball Writers' Association of America on Thursday. Verdugo finished 12th in the voting after receiving one fifth-place vote. Bogaerts, who finished 13th in 2018 and fifth in 2019, was tied for 17th with one 10th-place vote.

Report: Red Sox not prioritizing trade for Indians SS Francisco Lindor

The Red Sox aren’t planning on prioritizing a Francisco Lindor trade with the Indians this winter, according to a report from MLB.com’s Jon Morosi. Instead, Boston will -- unsurprisingly -- focus on adding pitching. Lindor, a four-time All-Star shortstop, is scheduled to hit free agency after next season, making him a prime trade candidate for a Cleveland team that may be looking to cut costs this winter.

Red Sox Notebook: As expected, Chris Sale won't be ready to start 2021 season

BOSTON – It wasn’t unexpected news, but Chris Sale will not be ready in time to start the 2021 season. Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom confirmed his ace left-hander will still be recovering from Tommy John surgery. Sale underwent the procedure in March – typical recovery time is up to 15 months, placing Sale’s likely comeback somewhere around June.

Red Sox know there's work to be done

BOSTON – The Red Sox interviewed a reported nine candidates in their search for a new manager. Boston wound up welcoming back a familiar face during a Tuesday press conference on the field at Fenway Park. Alex Cora was reintroduced after finishing his season-long suspension for electronic sign-stealing as the bench coach with the Astros in 2017.

Will Red Sox pursue center fielders exclusively or might Chaim Bloom target corner outfielders?

The Boston Red Sox must either re-sign free agent center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. or find his replacement this winter. Chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom doesn’t necessarily need to target center fielders exclusively if he decides to replace Bradley. Bloom could sign or trade for a corner outfielder, then move either right fielder Alex Verdugo or left fielder Andrew Benintendi to center field.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora apologizes for his role in Astros' cheating scandal - WISH-TV

Alex Cora, back with the Boston Red Sox after a one-season suspension, apologized Tuesday for the role he played in cheating while a coach for the Houston Astros. Before leading the Red Sox to the 2018 World Series title, Cora, 45, played a key role as bench coach of the eventual World Series champions 2017 Houston Astros in their illegal sign-stealing scheme, according to Major League Baseball. At a news conference Tuesday, Cora said he wasn’t proud of himself.
